Universal Voter Registration

The latest thing to come down the pipe are some rumors that Democrats will be pushing for 'universal voter registration.' It sounds good and wholesome and pure, but the more I think about this the more I don't like it. I've posted several articles below that discuss this, but there are a few reasons I don't like it.

  1. This agenda is based on the notion that there are vast numbers of people who are not getting registered who want to be. But is that really happening? I'm not saying that it doesn't happen in some cases, but is it really widespread?
  2. Enacting this legislation opens up the possibility to some very dubious situations.

    1. This makes it possible for someone to be registered in more than one location. When that happens, how would the government be able to verify that one individual has not voted in more than one location?
    2. This would more than likely register convicted felons and illegal aliens.

  3. Voter registration was way up in 2008 compared to 2004. So that tells me that somewho who claims people are not getting registered has some other sinister agenda.
