The Inmates Are Running the Asylum

I thought we were finally to the point where all those who believed in man-made global warming were changing their tune and calling it climate change. It makes sense since real world data is showing that the Earth has been cooling since 2003 and arguably since 1998. Regis Nicoll wrote an article recently explaining this trend. The "inconvenient truth" he points out is that no amount of facts or data will dissuade global warming fanatics from their position. He points to a recent climate modeling study by German scientists that are saying a current 10 year cooling period will lead to global warming.

But it appears our new Secretary of Energy still prefers to use the phrase "global warming" despite the evidence. He is predicting that by the end of the century California may be devoid of agriculture and the cities may disappear. This is all based on climate modeling. The only problem is that climate modeling can tell you whatever you want it to. It is only as good as the data you enter into it, and so far they haven't been that good. Al Gore's models predicted the ice caps would be melting (they are not, here too) and that temperatures would be rising every year (there not, see the Nicoll article). Maybe that's why the new "stimulus" bill earmarked $140 million for "climate data modeling" equipment, because what they have now doesn't work.

Right now there is a solar minimum. The last solar minimum caused an ice age-small but effective. And we have El Nino. This should cause weather forecasters to be retarded.
